About Me
I am a Visual Arts teacher at Taipei European School, with over 20 years of experience teaching Art and Design in the UK and international schools. I hold a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, a PGCE in Secondary Art and Qualified Teacher Status. I am also an IB Diploma Programme Visual Arts examiner.
My career has taken me to India, Tanzania, the UAE, Peru, Thailand, Qatar, China and Taiwan. I have taught KS3, IB MYP, GCSE/IGCSE, A Level and IB Diploma Visual Arts, working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
My Teaching Approach
I help students develop practical skills, independent ideas and the confidence to express a personal artistic voice. My lessons combine demonstrations, artist research, experimentation and feedback, guiding students from initial investigations to finished artworks.
My teaching spans drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and digital design. I encourage students to understand why they make particular choices, reflect on their progress and connect their work to their own experiences and wider cultural contexts.
I use visual examples, clear instructions and structured support to make learning accessible, including for students learning in an additional language, while maintaining high expectations.
